WhereNew Haven, CT

What: Ash & Steel Conference and Work Tables.

When: April, 2018

Summary: Hugo & Hoby teamed up with Urbane NHV and District's new Innovation & Tech Campus in New Haven to fabricate all of the beautiful new ash and steel conference & work tables for  Drive's Coworking space located at District (a total of thirteen 12-15ft long tables). Working closely with the design team, our goal was to create beautiful pieces that were functional, durable, and represented the unique brand of New Haven as a city. The new Drive Coworking space is the largest in the State of Connecticut, attracting talented companies from around the area to work from. In addition to the Coworking Space, the campus also has a CrossFit, gym, brewery & BBQ restaurant, large dedicated offices for larger companies, outdoor amphitheater, and a kayak/SUP launch. Each Hugo & Hoby design for the coworking space features hand-welded raw steel legs, and 1.5" thick butcher block ash tops with a sustainable commercial grade oil finish to sustain the heavy use of a coworking environment. The 3 conference tables are located in large communal meeting rooms for 10-15 people and the eight 12ft long work tables serve as dedicated work stations, with a gap down the middle to connect monitors to power strips on the ground. Two of the tables each have 4 locking casters so that the tables can be combined into a single 18ft long table for general everyday use and wheeled out of the space easily for events when needed. All of the tables were handmade in Connecticut within 25 miles of the new coworking space. The tables will be branded with the "Made in New Haven" logo showcasing where the designs were built, the lead crafters, and the wood species.
